Svaneti: Land of Towers

Tucked into the highest reaches of the Caucasus Mountains, Svaneti is one of the most remote and beautiful corners of Georgia. Its villages bristle with centuries-old defensive stone towers, built to protect families through long winters and turbulent history.

Svans speak their own language, sing their own songs, and keep traditions that have all but vanished elsewhere. Snow-capped peaks tower over green meadows and ancient churches.

Much of the imagery you will see at our festival comes from this magical region — a reminder of how deep Georgian roots run.
